How to get a pregnancy test

High sensitivity urine pregnancy tests are available from all pharmacies and most supermarkers in Malta and Gozo. They usually cost 10 to 15 EUR.

If you are unable to obtain a pregnancy test for any reason, we may be able to help you get one for free by placing an order for you with an online shop in Malta.

If you need a free pregnancy test, please contact us.

Please note this service is only for those who cannot afford or are unable to purchase a pregnancy test themselves. We reserve the right to reject any request for any reason.

Urine pregnancy tests work by detecting the pregnancy hormone human chorionic gonadotropin (HCG) in urine. Some pregnancy tests give an indication of how many weeks pregnant you are by measuring the quantity of HCG.

High sensitivity urine pregnancy tests may be able to detect a pregnancy from as early as 6 days before your next period is due, however they are more accurate if used on the day your period is due. If you have had unprotected sex less than 5 days ago and you do not want to become pregnant, you can take an EllaOne morning after pill to reduce the chance of pregnancy.

If you intend to have an abortion with pills, you should confirm the pregnancy with a positive urine pregnancy test before taking abortion pills. You can take another pregnancy test three weeks after using abortion pills to confirm that they worked. The pregnancy test should show negative by that time.

It is normal for your period to be delayed after using morning after pills. If you take a pregnancy test three weeks after using a morning after pill and the test is negative, it is usually a strong indicator that the morning after pill has worked and you will not become pregnant.
